Workshop for visually impaired & blind dancers and participants
Cara Rother / Tanzpunkt Hannover
This workshop is an invitation to all blind and visually impaired dance enthusiasts who would like to sense the movements for themselves.
The dancer and dance teacher Cara Rother will give an all-level workshop to familiarise you with the basics of contemporary dance or to deepen your knowledge on them.
As co-founder of Tanzpunkt Hannover, Cara Rother is an important representative of dance in the state capital and is well connected in both the contemporary and ballet scene. She has been working as a freelance dance teacher and dancer in northern Germany since 2018. In 2023, she completed a one-year training programme at ‘Ballet für Blinde’ in Hamburg and has since expanded her teaching activities to include work with visually impaired people. Her most important concern is to make dance accessible and tangible. She wants to give people the opportunity to use dance as a form of expression for themselves, to feel part of a community and to be moved in every way.
Tanzpunkt Hannover e.V. is a non-profit organisation that aims to strengthen the independent dance scene in Hanover and make dance accessible to everyone. Since its foundation in 2021, the association has been committed to creating professional structures for dance professionals and combining art, education and community.
The programme includes regular training courses for professional dancers and young talents, artistic residencies, network meetings, exchange formats, workshops and participatory formats that bring amateurs and artists together. With performance opportunities, open stages and free dance performances in public spaces, Tanzpunkt Hannover promotes the visibility of dance art in urban society.
The organisation cooperates with local and international partners, festivals and institutions and also advocates for the interests of the independent dance scene in cultural politics and city administration.
