Workshop: UPLOADING THE RHYTHM
Idio Chichava
Idio Chichava will give an intensive all-level workshop that guides to regenerate stimuli from the outside world, emotions, and fantasies. The focus is on practical improvisation exercises, the exploration of body and space as well as the spontaneous composition of choreographies. This involves working with movement material from the work VAGABUNDUS as well as energetic Mozambican dances, such as those of the Makondé, which focus on one's own presence.
Idio Chichava is a Mozambican choreographer, dancer and artistic director. He began dancing in 2000 in a traditional mozambican dance group, later moving into contemporary dance through Culturarte and Danças na Cidade, then participating in a series of workshops with the choreographer Lia Rodrigues. From 2002 onwards, he expanded his work with working with a multitude of African and European choreographers. In 2005 he moved to France to join the Kubilan Khan company. Back in Mozambiq, he founded in 2012 the artistic company Converge+.
